Lucy était la mère de Joseph Smith fils; elle était très connue pour avoir écrit le livre:

« Biographical Sketches of Joseph Smith, the Prophet, and His Progenitors for Many Generations. »

C’était une importante dirigeante du mouvement religieux pendant la vie de Joseph Smith.
